Manufactured by TQC Sheen, our specialist paint testing brand, this range of sag index and leveling applicators helps evaluate coating flow behavior—especially sagging on vertical or inclined surfaces. Sagging causes uneven film buildup and edge accumulation, making early detection and prevention essential for quality control.
Sag Index Applicator Functionality
The Sag Index Applicator features guidance plates to aid in straight drawdowns on test panels. Coating is applied as with a standard bar applicator, then the panel is tilted 90° (preferably with the thickest film at the bottom). Sag index is determined by observing which track maintains separation from the track below.
Sag and Leveling Applicator
This dual-function film applicator features 10 gaps for sag testing on one side and 5 pairs of notches for leveling assessment on the other. As coating stripes merge, the leveling ability can be visually evaluated—ideal for comprehensive coating behavior tests.
