Description
The Model 951 nukeALERT is a preventative detection tool that reveals the presence and intensity of gamma radiation to nontechnical personnel. Small, rugged and watertight, it offers greater sensitivity than the radiation meters first responders commonly carry. This extra sensitivity is particularly useful when detecting concealed radiological material, where radiation levels vary with distance and shielding.
The nukeALERT 951 detects gamma radiation discreetly and alerts the wearer through vibration or an audible signal. With two-year battery life and automatic recalibration in high-background environments, it supports extended monitoring. A belt clip and bright visual display allow hands-free operation.
Its compact, rugged design provides HAZMAT and emergency response teams with a watertight monitoring tool for field use. Improved sensitivity and response time help teams survey large areas quickly and cost-effectively during a radiological emergency.

- Self-powered operation with two-year battery life
Detector & Performance
The Model 951 is a pager-style Personal Radiation Detector (PRD). Its Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator offers greater sensitivity than the Geiger-Mueller meters first responders typically carry. The detector responds to gamma radiation down to 20 keV and reaches full readings in under a second.
The unit automatically calibrates to background radiation at startup and self-adjusts when high background levels are present, helping keep false alarms low. Four notification methods communicate increasing radiation intensity to the wearer.
Notification Methods
| Method | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Audio Alarm | Beeps increase as radiation strength rises. |
| Vibration | Vibration pulses increase as radiation strength rises. |
| Flashing LED | Flashes increase with radiation strength, while the color changes from orange to red. |
| Numeric Readout | LED displays levels 1 through 9, with 9 indicating the highest level. |
