Description

Don’t estimate ET. Measure it.

Knowing exactly how much water a canopy loses during the day is vital to many applications. From irrigation planning and quantifying hydrological changes to modelling an ecosystem’s energy balance, direct evapotranspiration measurements provide the information needed to make timely decisions.

The ATMOS 51 VBR Actual ET Sensor takes your data beyond reference evapotranspiration values. Using a variance Bowen ratio technique, it simplifies water and energy balance measurements in the field. Actual ET data helps you track plant water use throughout the day, identify water limitations and detect signs of plant stress earlier.

Scale measurements to your application

Like conventional field-scale water flux measurements, such as eddy covariance towers, the ATMOS 51 uses turbulent transport principles to measure energy and water exchange through dynamic eddies. Its compact design lets you extend ET measurements with less infrastructure.

Use the ATMOS 51 to supplement measurements across an eddy covariance tower footprint, expand monitoring to additional locations or validate crop ET by pairing it with all-in-one weather stations in the field.

More precision for better decisions

Actual ET measurements show how much water is leaving the system. Use site-specific data to characterise plant water stress, refine irrigation decisions, manage crops and monitor water conservation efforts.

Combine actual ET with precipitation and soil moisture measurements for a clearer understanding of how water moves into and out of your system.

Simple setup and data management

The ATMOS 51 shares the compact design of other ATMOS devices. Mount the sensor to an instrument mast, use its built-in leveling bracket and connect it to a compatible ZL6 data logger. Data can then be accessed through ZENTRA Cloud.
